Khruangbin – The Universe Smiles Upon You

As far as I can tell, they've pressed more than 11 of these. The purple rain edition was pressed as a 5th anniversary special edition. The eleven in the auction in 2020 were made available as a fundraiser for of the Khruangbin road crew who were out of work that year due to the COVID pandemic.

Nowhere though do Khruangbin say that this was limited to 11 copies, just that 11 were up for auction. I believe they pressed more and gave some of them to the Khruangbin road crew, and some have now made their way onto Discogs.

The copy I bought was from a former Khruangbin roadie, and was significantly cheaper than what some of the auctioned 11 went for. Based on the couple that have shown up since the initial auctions, I think that up to 50 were made (50 for the 5th birthday?)

The record itself is a nice purple. Sounds great too, less surface noise than my white first press. It's the single sleeve unfortunately, but it's still good artwork. The purple sticker is a nice touch too. Worth getting if you can find one

I'm proud to say I actually own a copy of this record! I'm surprised to see one sold for $400 though. I paid like $550 to get it.

Could any of the owners add the matrix / runout information of this release (to get certainty about it)? That would be great!

Sadly my copy has a loop between tracks 4 and 5 on side A without any visible warping or damage. Overall nothing special soundwise. Their following albums have better mastering IMO.

My copy sounds great—better than the 3 different copies of Con Todo el Mundo. Pretty quiet copy!

They need to press Dern Kala on a 7". I would buy it so fast

One the best sounding LPs in my collection. The sound literally jumps out of the speakers. This is wonderful!
