I feel this album is certainly on a par with the first two classics. It didn’t take me long to adjust to the new tracklist, which comes out strong on side one and ends beautifully on side 2, with gorgeous ballads.
The pressing is silent and the sound is punchy and rich, with lovely depth and details. -
Edited one month agoWell, The Band has always been a firm favourite of mine, but I have rarely played their records & CDs through all these years, now I have finally come to the conclusion that The Band may be the greatest band ever, they are history as is their music.
Filled some gaps, and this is one LP filling this gap. Like the 2009 US "The Band" which sounds almost exactly like the original Ludwig cut, even quite a bit better (any good remaster should sound like a first pressing, just IMHO) this one sounds natural, bass-heavy and still has killer dynamics and Instrument seperation. The artwork is nicely replicated without any annoying barcode printed on the cover.
And if you own a copy of this series you'll soon recognize it ain't a much weaker album than their second and it sits proud next to "Music From Big Pink". Cahoots is near in quality given the Ron McMaster treatment, this one is one of the three greats, and I would not rank these in any way any more. Just serious "The Band" stuff, great Ssongs mastered and pressed the way I like it. -

This is the best sounding copy of this fascinating album that I ever heard! -

This pressing sounds gorgeous, great bass loud, clear vocals, maybe mids are low a bit, but I guess its the way it was intend. No eq needed, even with treble and bass flat it sounds really great. Vinyl is flat, good thick quality vinyl also. -
I bought this when going through a Rundgren phase to hear how his mix compared to the Glyn Johns. I think it sounds great (better?) and wish it would get released as a standalone vinyl version someday.

Killer box set. Great packaging and the lithographs were a nice surprise. Vinyl is clean and flat. I compared it to my 2011 MoFi and I think this mix is brighter and more vocal forward. Not better overall but very satisfying. It was a steal at $25, where I found it.

I've always thought side two of STAGE FRIGHT is considerably stronger than the first side, never really cared for "Sleeping" or "Time To Kill". It's not quite up there with The Band's first two albums, but it's still a great listen. This pressing has a full-bodied, robust, organic sound, with nice range from top to bottom. My copy plays cleanly throughout, with a couple of patches of faint surface noise.

Purchased from Amazon the summer of 2018 for $18.92 USD. It feels like I stole this record based on how great it sounds. Wonderful!

Man o man o man, what an insanely good record this is. Mofi did a tremendous good job so now all the songs sound even better than before. A warm, full mix with a nice seperation of the instruments and harmonies. This band has got to be one of my all time favourites, same goes for this album!
