Notes
Originally released: 3rd December 1983 in the US by Metal blade Records.
Slayer was the opening act for Metal Massacre Volume III and the band agreed. This appearance created underground buzz, which led to Slagel g contract the band with Metal Blade Records.
The album was self-financed by the savings of Kerry King's father. On recording the drums, Slagel wanted drummer Dave Lombardo to play without using cymbals due to the amount of noise they made, as he was unsure if he could siphon the noise out, which he eventually did.
Touring extensively promoting the album, the band brought close friends and family along the trip, who helped backstage with lighting and sound.
"Evil Has No Boundaries" Gene Hoglan, later known as the drummer for bands like Dark Angel and Death, provided backing vocals on the song.
Kevin Reed, a friend of the band, set up the drums and lighting when touring with the band. Reed's father, Lawrence R. Reed, drew the Minotaur (Cretan mythical creature) with a sword on the album's cover.
Although the album was criticized for its poor production quality, it became Metal Blade's highest-selling release and one of the best-selling independent records of all time. 5.000 copies was the label's average.. Show No Mercy went on to sell between 15,500 and 20,000 copies in the United States, it also went on to sell more than 15,000 overseas, as Metal Blade had worldwide rights
Show No Mercy was met with polarized opinions when it was issued, but in some recent reviews it came to be considered a classic album.
Some reissues include extra track(s): "Aggressive Perfector" (originally recorded for the compilation Haunting The Chapel.

When Slayer was Black Metal, a True Black Metal record. NOBODY of the '90s black metal 'wave' knew that, not EVEN Euronymous. And they STILL don't know it today. -
Edited 2 months agoAvoid this version if you are not collector of that band. The cut was from "Daniel Krenger" at Pallas and this guy not know to cut vinyl. What I own from him is by far the worst version of the albums.
The sound is ultra weak and muddy no separation on the instruments. The guitars sound muddy and the drums buried under the ground. Araya vocals not have any depth and any satanic echo as it was in some older versions. And ofc, no soundstage sound.
Embarrassing issue from Metal Blade which in the past in 2016 they offer us great sound quality.
For the packaging is cool and has lot of stuff, plastic inner sleeve and ok booklet. That part is great from the label but for the price? No.. No CD inside, no demos, no live, no cassette no a real anniversary version.
Keep your money imo. The sound from any CD sounds miles ahead than here. I own all vinyl from this album and this takes tha last place by far. -

Can't find that specific version on here... suggestions? -
Anyone know what the difference is between this and this pressing?

Edited 6 months agoI put this on again and wow this is really amazing reissue. Sounds phenomenal. Not sure the source but sounds like it’s from analog tape. The pressing itself is superb. Ultra quiet and flat. Top notch packaging. Exactly how reissues should be. I should mention I compared this version directly to the 40th anniversary edition and sounded identical.

What a weird consumer item. An expensive thing for the purpose of being expensive? -

What fun after almost 40 years to look into which pressing I have and find that I have the tan label 1st press all this time ever since I was 13. -

I keep the blood running by spinning the record.
For the right price i might consider selling.
