Edited 4 years agoDefinitely a boss sound in places playing trance in London in 1997 - although however good the original is it’s a pity that some other top trance producers weren’t engaged to give us another couple of variations on such an exhilarating theme. Of the other mixes I’ve heard of it none really do it for me at all. I’d love JamX and DeLeon, Digital Blondes, Matt Darey or Mike/Push to have got hold of this and seen what they’d turn out.

I first came across Future Breeze via Sash!, as I imagine many people did, on their remix of 'Encore Une Fois'. 'Why Don't You Dance With Me' is largely cut from the same cloth, and on the face of it, it is pretty formulaic pizzicato trance; an unsycopated offbeat bassline, predictable chord changes and big breakdowns. But under the surface I feel this is actually quite a sinister track, the main 'Sash!' style riff that accompanies the pizzicato is slightly brooding and doesn't have the optimism and euphoria that came with the Ibiza trance of the late 90s. Instead it's a more paranoid affair, slightly itchy and more akin to Faithless' gritty 'Insomnia'. Even the lyrics are fuelled by desperation; it's not 'Yay! We're Dancing!', it's confusion and despair all the way. The fact the title doesn't even have a question mark suggests our mournful vocalist has given up trying to work out an answer.
Anyway, I'm getting carried away. I adore this track, along with Hypertrophy's 'Just Come Back To Me', which was released around the same period and reminds me of a time when trance was all about that pizzicato sound. It did tire quickly and it was perhaps used a little too much in 1997, but Future Breeze used it to great effect and it's a shame this track has largely been forgotten in trance history as it's an absolute banger. -

Edited 8 years agoSash!-esque, very similar to Future Breeze's mix of Encore Une Fois in many ways with Dons and Klubbheads not straying very far from the original concept while adding more euro style cheese in their own ways.
Sharam's Remix is totally different, an amazing epic piece of dare I say proggy style house with great use of the vocal cut up into a few pieces with a a memorable main synth line plus swirling a swirling synth melody solid percussion and bassline.
I've only Just worked out by chance that this is the Version I've been after since 1997, as Nick Warren played it during a live Essential Mix from Cream and the Radio 1 tracklisting had it down as: Future Force "Dance With Me" (White Label).Well to all those that are still after that track, look no further it is Sharam's Remix of this track, an amazing re-rub that sounds nothing like the original in an exceptional way.
