Notes
The title is copied from "The Core, A Huge Evergrowing Pulsating Brain Which Rules From The Centre Of Ultraworld" which was written by Sci-Fi Sound Effects - Science Fiction Sound Effects No.26.
Writing credits Woolley, Horn, Lipson, and Darlow are for the choral sample from the intro to a particular version of the Grace Jones song "Slave To The Rhythm". Writing credits for Ripperton and Rudolph are for the vocal sample from the Minnie Riperton song "Loving You".
No "Loving You" samples were included in the WAU! Mr Modo releases of the Orbital Dance Mix and Orbital Radio Mix. When those tracks were reissued on Big Life, new "Loving You" vocals were added, sung by someone else in Riperton's style.
According to Alex Paterson, the original WAU! Mr Modo 12" A-side ran about 23 minutes; it had to be edited down to under 20 minutes on later releases in order to conform to Gallup chart rules. However, the existence of a 23-minute version on any release has yet to be confirmed.

Blew me away in the ‘90s when I first heard this. Genius -
Edited 6 months agoThe Grace Jones sample is mind-blowing. I think the repeating 8-note synth melody is also based on the 6:35 album version of Slave To The Rhythm, on the part that starts at 1:36 -- check it out https://youtu.be/3yVbfZTUBPU?si=UUZGNK1BpFnmJ8gx&t=96

Not the same as the Orbital Dance Mix but a decent ambient journey. My copy has a label on one side only and that is off centre. Bad day at the pressing plant I guess. -

This is my copy. Purple label and misprint lacking the word ‘ever’ on the label. -

Timeless music.
An ambient classic in every sense of the word. Almost like an add on to the KLF chill out and space albums but a different take on those classics, FX flying all over, Minnie ripperton vocals drifting in and out yes I know the KLF links.
This is the Orb I prefer. Majestic. Ambient house heaven. -

I managed to find this beaut in a charity shop hidden amongst the usual crap, slightly battered but nevertheless an unbelievable find for £1 -
nick123 Is the "Oribital Dance Mix" on here the same one as on the others (MWS 017T)?
-
Ramenhotep *What exactly* "is different from" the other one? Thanks

Edited 4 years agoWhat's the source for the release year of 1996, since it doesn't appear anywhere on the release itself?

"This one is different from The Orb - A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld (Remix)" -- Curious what this is based on as the track listing is identical.
