This version and what also appears to be around the 1994 CD reissue going forward to the 2012 FDR CD versions have a mastering flaw on tracks 8 and 9 where the tape speed gets altered during the middle of playback. See this article:
https://askearache.blogspot.com/2009/05/scum-20th-anniversary-edition-sound.html
I was able to check this against the 2012 version and also the 1988 version where it's Scum and FETO together and this mastering error is NOT present on those versions, also the mastering on those versions sounds a lot less dull (high end roll off) than this version with the mastering errors. -

Anyone know if this repress came with a hype sticker like the 1st press did? -

I bought this from earache about a year and a half ago for about £12, don’t give money to anyone selling this for like £40. Totally Absurd! -

Edited one year agoTrue the levels are pretty low but what results is a very dynamic and resolving listen, especially for a metal album, I advise playing through a preamp with quality vacuum tubes, and turn it up loud, you'll hear everything (or as detailed in the inner sleeve);
Lee's Lead Growls
Mick's Drums & Whirlwind Caveman Screams & Growls
Jim's Grinding Bass & Eyes Popping Out
Mastered a different way, the results could have been jarring for an extreme album like this one, so I commend this approach.
A (rare) example of a repress done right! This reissue made optimal use of the original source material as opposed to altering/jeopardising an already classic recording in a similar fashion to how The Beatles 2009 Remasters were created.

No matter how productive the Napalm Death formation has been for decades, it is impossible to imagine at least one show where hits from Scum would not be performed. And even if the have changed, even if there are about 100 different releases in the career (according to Discogs), you can't just take and not listen to "You Suffer".
This reissue does not differ much from the dozen previous reissues with colored logos or other colors of vinyls, just now the market has received 300 green copies, which were not there before. A kind of exclusive, but the industry has long understood how to warm up the excitement of collectors. The most important thing here is the sound in FDR mastering. Raw punk guitars, raw hammering drums, raw farting bass, raw ripped vocals - in general, Scum, as it has been for all these 35 years. Vinyl sounds clean enough, the design is standard (a back with pixels), again Earache did not put a protective anti static envelope - in this regard, they represent stability. A good press, for those who want a kind of limited edition for own collection. -

Just found this in some old bookstore today for €30. Not a bad find -
Edited 2 years agoThis is a album that needs to be played on this format. Sounds really aggressive and intense! Very very noisy pressing in every way and the best way possible. It embodies everything this album is about. The purple is beautiful and fits well with the yellow cover! Side A is perfection. As far as I am concerned, it contains the best Grindcore songs of all time, (along with stuff from World Downfall and Horrified). Side B is really awesome in linking the bridge between Scum and FETO too. While I like side B a lot too and it is super fun, it does not quite stand up to the certified classics on A. I could never give this album less than five stars, for its importance to metal and music in general cannot be comprehended! Fantastically fun and energetic explosion of an album and purely classic and legendary in the metal scene! Get this copy!

Edited 9 months agothis is not the german bootleg of the year 2011? ..... or is there really a second pressing of the Scum (Limo-green) with the smaller sticker and different matrix? . I don't think so, but if anyone knows....
