When it comes to Japanese Metallica pressings it is kind of a mixed bag. I prefer the US pressings of the first 3 albums over their Japanese counterparts (although the Japanese are always cooler from a presentation standpoint). That being said, this version beats out the US pressing in my opinion, better instrument separation, dynamics, and dead silent vinyl! -

Great sounding pressing. Quiet, heavy and centered. This record has always had a very tight sounding mix. That's the beauty of it. The drums, bass and guitars are all tight and right down the middle typical of a Metallica mix. I think many people expect all music to be mixed the same; exaggerated highs and bass, and scooped mids. Not the case with IJFA. This mix is the best I've ever heard. Well worth the $30. -

Bass is not lacking — if anyone thinks they’re experiencing missing bass frequencies, I advise them to put it on a meter and have a look, get better speakers, real speakers that actually move air, or otherwise have their hearing checked by a professional. What I think they’re hearing is excellent high fidelity definition and separation, not a compressed mid section that appears louder. It has not been mid-boosted nor have engineers brickwalled a heavily compressed mix so that everything is at the same volume level. These guitars sound fantastic — I’ve played in a band with similar equipment. It’s all there in the sound. Even My Bose 301 IIIs are shaking the pictures on the walls and the bass section of the EQ is thrumming like the modified exhaust on my neighbor’s truck. It’s almost like a dub record. Good job, boys. Justice For All — including my neighbors who need a little Metallica in their lives. -

This pressing is great. It sounds as good as it gets. On the bass issue, I will never understand people complaining about something missing that never was there in the first place, it's kind of absurd!! -

I sadly have only one of the 2 lps. The 2nd to be exact, but it's in mint condition. Honestly, I don't think it gets better than this. Canadian pressings of albums often get over looked, but here's the proof how good it can get. The dynamics are huge and the bass thumbs. Even at low volumes it's clear that this pressing is excellent. -

Really good sounding pressing, of course the bass can be quite weak but then again it's AJFA so it's hard to fault the pressing for that. -
Any reason for this version being much more sought and expensive than the other spanish version (Metallica - ...And Justice For All)? This is a reissue three years later. By the way, mine has inner sleeves, and sure it's the 1991 reissue (printed year).

Edited 2 months agoDefinitely the most quiet vinyl I've ever heard! Jeez, I didn't even know they can cut a double LP this quiet considering the grooves are pretty wide and not thin like usually with quiet vinyls. Fortunately I got a copy without any significant issues, but I can imagine how loud any pops, clicks and hissing sound if you got a copy in basic GZ condition (i.e. surface noise, clicks and pops like most GZ pressings have). With volume control set loud this sounds actually pretty close to OG pressing I had - and that is NO BASS.
