Cancer (3) – Death Shall Rise

A conservative and old-fashioned album even by the standards of the year it was released, but nevertheless it is a logical continuation of the debut work, this time performed in a heavier and more atmospheric way. It's not a very fast or aggressive album, but it methodically nails the coffin with every track. In a way, if this album were twenty percent faster, it would be closer to Deicide (mr. Benton on 1st track), and if it were twenty percent slower, it would be closer to Obituary. Anyway, the guys from Foggy Albion caught a Florida vibe and did something in their own vision.

The announcement from the label states that a fresh audio mastering has been performed for the 30th anniversary. There is nothing to compare it with, previously there were no CD or other vinyl in my collection, but this reissue sounds great. What sounds definitely very, very good here is the sound is rich, dense, in-face, with readable separation and voluminous solos. The feeling of analog playback is present, a high level. The vinyl is stamped perfectly, really heavy, smooth, with a silent mass. The win-win red color turned out to be quite bright. In of design, maximum identity with the first press has been achieved here (judging by the photos on discogs). Cyclone Empire made the only attempt to update the design, but again, looking at the scans, it's hard to say that they managed to do it well and really informatively. So there is a potential for a memorable reissue in the future =) Otherwise, it's a cool press that will definitely bring positive emotions if you appreciate the old school and collect releases from the last millennium.

I cannot see th e difference between this version and the russian bootleg. Both have the same codes.

Nice, full, sound. Quiet and flat. The way records should be.
Was a bit pricey but worth it for sound quality, alone.

I’m really enjoying the sound of this pressing. Just picked this up and the yellow LP of “To the Gory End.” So glad these got reissued on vinyl. Definitely worth getting if you’re a fan.

Some copies came with mini poster. Mine did. I can add photo if needed..

why a remaster? it's so silly! really bugs me a lot...

The first two Cancer releases are absolute, stone cold, early Death Metal classics.
