This an excellent set of funky grooves with Joe Henderson and George Benson contributing , the CTI/Kudu arrangements are here but in no way overpowering they only enhance the performance. Recorded at RVG’s studio this is an essential album for the genre, may be J Hammonds best imho… not to be missed! -

This is a very lushly produced album, with a sleek and smooth sound. I swear I briefly heard the melody from "House of the Rising Sun" in the middle of the Summertime/In the Ghetto medley. The cover of "Higher Ground" turns into an extended funky groover, with each of Joe Henderson, George Benson, and Ron Carter contributing some fiery work. Mr. Hammond sticks to the Hammond here, before abandoning it for the following year's GEARS done in collaboration with the Mizell brothers. No issues with the pressing, it sounds very full bodied, with nice separation despite the big production. My copy is in nice shape overall, with a rough spot at the beginning of side two causing some surface noise for the first 30 seconds or so. -

My copy has a pressing/printing error where the contents are reversed from the sleeve and label listings, i.e. side A has the tracks that should be on side B and vice-versa. Even the runout groove stamps show the incorrect sides. Are they all like this?
