I hope it sounds better than it looks. Both disks severely warped right out of the sleeve.

Etching matches this version but I am presently surprised because it sounds pretty good, dynamic, spacious, quiet for United pressing after ultrasound cleaning to get off the paper dusts from the printed sleeve.

Got it off Discogs and fortunately it was the cleanest pressing I've heard in a long while. I've tried my luck on 2 black pressings of this album and found both of them to be very disappointing, especially on side 2 of the first disk. So I tried this white version, which was even harder to find a legit mint copy of. Fortunately they turned out to sound very clean, and the milky white vinyl looks beautiful. The only downside is that the curse words are muted out on this version.

Very very good album. Contains soulful lyrics and terrific melodies in some songs and fun lyrics and terrific flow in others.

Haven't listened to this in it's entirety but I agree with others - arrived dirty and full of static. I wanted to point out that even though the sleeve only lists two tracks on Side Four, there are in fact four tracks. They are not listed on the sleeve for some reason.

Like others have said, this one was filthy out of the printed paper sleeve. I had to be deliberate not to drag it out of there because it was VERY staticky, both discs remain pretty staticky even after 2 Humminguru cycles. If you take this from the jacket to the turntable, you are going to be frustrated and disappointed with surface noise.

All that said, it's a beautiful sounding record. The lows are very thick and full. The highs, of which there are a lot with all the intricate chimes, cymbals and guitar solo work, are very crisp. Lauryn's voice dances on every track, which is the reason you bought it. The kick drums have plenty of punch on the more boom-bap oriented tracks. The thing that really stands out is the soundstage. This record fills my room wall to wall and floor to ceiling.

Reviews seem to be selling it short. It's an easy $30 to spend.

The inner sleeves are plain white papers . What kind of stinginess and neglect is this. We also buy these records for visual purposes. When will record companies understand this?

First things 1st the bad(if these things bother you!):
No gatefold album cover so single outer with minimal info printed on the rear.
No printed information on the inner sleeves.
Some are saying they are "missing" not having the profanities on the LP.

I received this on the 19/11/24 via amazon prime for £22.79 (bargain) and BOTH "140g vinyl records" are coloured black & well centred spindle holes,glass flat and noise free(free from pops n clicks).
Clearly the original mastering was top class and still carries over very well along with the pressing on this 2016 reissue.
All vocals are clear,smooth and vibrant the sound reproduction is EXCELLENT throughout - just be mindful that the title track which is the 2nd track on side four is SUPPOSED to have the "crackling" all the way through it,I find this out by doing online research and listening to it via youtube!
Songs are well written and mostly about relationships(probably the usual fare for this type of album I`d say),look Ms Hill CAN;sing,harmonise,rap,write,arrange and produce what is there NOT to like about this really?

PS.I should`ve also stated that the "crackling effect" is also present on the 4th track on side 1 "To Zion" for 1.05 mins towards the end of this track - don`t ask me on both tracks I don`t it adds anything in fact it`s a bit of a minus i.m.h.o.

I guess hit or miss is the new industry standard… my copy was almost flawless and it’s a vivid mastering anyways
