Guru – Jazzmatazz (Volume 1)

Big fan off 'jazz rap' at the time (Gang Starr/ATCQ/Digable Planets) and could not wait for this at the time but never really felt it. It was a little bit tame - beats wise and lyrically. Listening to it again today yeah its probably a bit better than I and I will deffo give it another spin in the future but if I want to listen to a jazz rap LP then why not put on the real thing and listen to 'Daily Operation'? I've given it a generous 4 stars because of my affection for Gang Starr related bizness!

Sounds as good as the MP3’s it was probably made from. I compared it side to side with the No Time To Play instrumental from the single. It’s like the drummer forgot a few pieces of his kit. All in all it’s fine but don’t expect something amazing and don’t expect that having it on vinyl is anything better than just streaming it from YouTube.

I’m almost certain mine is a bootleg. Sound quality is ok, a bit muffled and could be louder but it’s a single lp. No inserts, was missing shrink but I doubt there were hype stickers. Bought “new” this year from a record seller in .

Those issues aside, CLASSIC album that I never tire of hearing. Glad to have this version until I can find a better pressing.

Fantastic Box Set. The Bonus tracks were awesome to hear for the first time. And it was great to enjoy the instrumentals from the album. Worth the money for this set.

Anyone else have a copy with the Mandarin language Obi? Runout numbers match this pressing but not seeing the Obi in any photos.

Incredible album, but pretty disappointing pressing. Mine showed up dished, with lots of surface noice, as well as some scratches.
