New Order – Waiting For The Sirens' Call

I like this album you can listen to it and feel happy , I can hear the bass as well, decent album with acoustic sounding guitars in the songs

This version, with the sticker over the barcode cooks!! Nice bass too. Vinyl is quiet with phenomenal playback.

As an old fart and an avid fan, this is by far the crappiest album they've ever made I easily could have assisted and added some spunk and flavor to this record.. But Life goes on doesn't it??????? There are a few gems but that's about it, and in that case to save your asses and your reputation, although I feel at least the latter is still intact, maybe an EP with the strong tracks would've sufficed, and save the riffraff for a much later date. Or, release once everyone has ed and let the label guys deal with the fallout. Werd to everyone's mothers, can you dig it, yes we can.

The New Order album with arguably the worst and most uninspired artwork of them all. Utterly underwhelming - and I suppose with much of the music to match as well - apart from the obvious highlights 'Krafty', 'Turn' and the wonderful title track itself. Not their most essential release, and not even the belated 2013 release of 'Lost Sirens' - which featured the 'left overs' from the same album sessions - makes this any better in retrospect. Just a bit bland and a bit beige. New Order go 'yacht rock'? Unthinkable, I know, but this is the closest they teeter to that particular genre (and how ironic that one of the images on the inner sleeve is, indeed, that of a yacht!). Many of the tracks are just forgettable. And some of the song titles are cringeworthy too - 'Hey Now, What You Doing?' is from the Oasis school of meat and two veg cruddiness.

Something that's never really made sense to me is why they split the discs where they did, rather than after I Told You So. Morning Night and Day would be a great opener for the second half, and the LPs would have been more equal in length. As it is, record one is about eight minutes longer than record two. I suppose there's no reason they should have cut the record precisely in half, it just seems sort of unbalanced this way.

Very good pressing. just a couple of obtrusive pops, otherwise very silent. Mixing is a bit richer than on "Get Ready", and spreading the album on 2 LPs has helped dynamics.

Pretty mediocre record, very middle of the road. Nothing even remotely suitable for club play, unless it was someone's retirement party. Sad this was Hooky's last record with them, what a disappointment.
