John Coltrane – Om

It’s impossible not to respond to this recording. Maybe the response won’t be a familiar sense of pleasure or enjoyment, but you’re going to feel something. This band goes beyond the limits.

My first Coltrane album I listened to. I quickly fell in love and luckily I found this record out in the wild at amoeba Hollywood. It hasn’t been there since. I’m lucky I picked it up because it then made me want to get all his free jazz records. I finally got ascension edition 2 after so long waiting for one which finally completed all of his free jazz albums when he was alive. I still need infinity and transitions. I love record hunting since it really makes you appreciate the record more than just buying one off discogs. You also find albums you wouldn’t normally know about unless you see them and look them up. That’s how I found live in Japan by Coltrane. Such a dope cover and a great concert. You may not love the music, but this pressing sounds incredible and is a piece of jazz history. I highly recommend this if you're a fan of Coltrane's later work.

Wonderful, spiritual record that will clear a room of the wrong company in no time flat. Dense clusters, wails, recitation, ascending consciousness. The real JC.

OM. This album really hits the spot. This and 'Meditations' are my go to jazz albums once the psychedelics start to peak.
