Steve Hackett – Spectral Mornings

Just picked this up and cover has a stamp "Loaned for promotion only..." Anyone know if there is a separate version for that?

This is a great lp. Recording is solid. Pressing is rich and vibrant.
One thing I've noticed over the years is...it often sounds like a Genesis lp.
That said...Hackett is an amazing guitar player and the musicians on this lp are stellar.

Some great orchestrations, flutes and atmospherics on Hackett's album, word.

A go to Hackett album rather solid throughout is you exclude the sort of cabaret cum calypso track Decomposing Man.
One can pick a part via Hacketts compositions how much his creative guitar player made early Genesis such classics. Spectral Mornings, Lost Time in Cordoba and Tigermouth are progressive rock gems incorporating Steves electronic and nylon strings contributions as well as Nick Magnus synth/keyboard touches. Personally this album blows the stuff Genesis was doing at the time, they Genesis where slowing eroding the instrumentals and long form music for mainstream pop whilst Steve remained faithful to the prog aesthetics. Listen to Spectral Mornings the track its pure mystical, fog drenched melancholy wrapped in the warmth of English wool!

Steve Hackett (born 12 February 1950) is a British musician and guitarist. In 1970 he replaced Anthony Phillips in the British rock band Genesis. He played with that band on eight albums, until he left the band in 1977 to continue solo. In 2012 he played on The album The .Ject Rome Pro (g).
