Notes
Union is the thirteenth studio album released in 1991. It was so called because it brought together the previous Yes album’s lineup (Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Trevor Rabin, Alan White, Tony Kaye) and the then ex-Yes group Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe (Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Rick Wakeman, and Steve Howe).
All former ABWH (except Anderson, who was member of both bands) left Yes following the Union Tour, making of Union the last Yes album with its original drummer Bruford, and the last album with guitarist Howe and keyboardist Wakeman before their return in 1995. It is also the only Yes album featuring guitarist Rabin in which he did not play any keyboards, and the only with Yes being an octet.

Brillant sound. In comparison to the original 1991 BMG cut there's more body to find,
the music gain more clearance to breathe.
The new cut was opened slightly in the complete range of frequencies.
while the original album sound more narrow and compressed a bit.
These multi-layered early 90's sound recordings for 'Union' are quite difficult to handle.
Without access and comprehensive remastering on the original multitracks
there will be no alternative in sound to this new 2024' Japan 2LP vinyl edition. -
Edited 8 months agoVery nice release. Sound quality/mix comparable to the original European release (no better, no worse) but this is the full album spread over two LPs. A little groove roar between tracks but otherwise generally silent. The speech at the end of Angkor Wat has silent backgrounds. Had one three click repeater otherwise all four sides were perfect.
Rear sleeve a copy of the original so doesn’t list the final two tracks. -

Well,
this will be released as 2LP blue colored vinyl set in september '24.
Could be the ultimate vinyl release.
For a very long time I think; this 'Union' is the most 'produced' and processed studio album in yes history. This album especially
is predestined to go there again and open the masters for new remixes to be released on vinyl editions. Isn't it.
There are many options.
For example imagine 'Angkor Wat' with the original piano sounds,
like played from Wakeman.
Or the very cool alternative and aggressive dance mix of 'Dangerous' etc.
Or the long, fully outplayed version of 'Take The Water' etc.
There's a long list of options for the holder of rights:

Famously, this album was called "Onion" by Rick Wakeman..... because it made him cry! A right old hotchpotch. Fortunately the Union tour in 1991 was tremendous. -

Compressed the beginning of the loudness wars this one is early -

No surprises here other than the magical ability to cram 30 minutes on each side and still maintain a wonderful sounding playback. MOV rarely disappoints! -

Trevor Rabin should certainly be listed in the track list credits. -

Sound is a disappointment. Was hoping for more bottom end. Midrange heavy. Likely from a digital source. Just seems compressed. Almost an MP3 sound. The CD version is superior to this vinyl version . No “Wow” factor here. this one by. -

There's a lot of music on this LP. MOV are using sonic wizardry. -
