Dead Or Alive – The Pete Hammond Hi-NRG Remixes

Incredible mixes. Want to dance and jump. Forgetting being 60+. Wonderfully overproduced. Lots of fun. This is my album of the year. Brings me to discover hidden gems of Dead Or Alive. So underrated. Love the broken-heart- you - do - not -deserve - me Songs. Epic! Outstanding vinyl!

Remixes are good but the vocals are way too low and some are filtered the music overshadows them too much when listening. I just wish they'd be redone in the near future.

I've been a Dead Or Alive fan for most of my life, and this collection was an exciting idea. It is also presented in a beautiful sleeve, worthy of a vintage Dead Or Alive release from the "Nude" era. The double vinyl on bright colors is a fantastic touch. That's where the excitement ends. Pete Hammond's drab game plan seems to have been to make every track on this album sound as much like the band's oft-played and frequently self-recycled hit "You Spin Me Round" as possible, with chattering cowbells and seemingly non-stop hand claps adorning every track. The really big disappointment, though, is the fact that the vocals are mixed so low in the audio that you literally can't hear them over the music in some places. It's the kind of gross oversight that would have been unthinkable at one point in the music industry, and if Epic Records had issued this collection back in the 80s/90s, furious fans would have been returning this product for a replacement. Since this is 2024 and the core creatives of Dead Or Alive have now sadly ed away, this release instead is considered a viable product to be pressed into colored vinyl set and sold as a higher-priced limited edition collector's item on Record Store Day. Pete would have seen this for what it is - as he might have said, "Utter shite."

it's with pain in my heart that I write this about one of my ions which is Dead or Alive, I believe that a ''work'' like this is a spit on Pete's story, a lot of noisy remixes and with totally repeated beats from start to finish, without any harmony, makes my ears bleed, Pete would never approve of that, the Unbreakable album is far superior to this one, even because it was made when Pete was alive, the last decent release was Fan the Flame Part 2, instead of these companies keep releasing these remixes (dead or alive already has thousands) they should do what everyone expects, release a 4k blu ray with shows and remastered video clips DECENTLY !!!

Took a listen to some of the remixes on YouTube. They sound alright but the thing that bugs me is the vocals they sound a bit quiet and the instrumentals overshadow them.
The package looks good I like how they've used a pictures of Pete from the Turn Around and Count 2 Ten video.

What an entertaining trip down memory lane! Fantastic mixes that are bound to be enjoyed by all fans of hi-nrg and eurodance, I honestly did not expect to like this compilation as much as I do. I especially love the song selection and the fact that some lesser known tracks were also chosen to be re-worked (U Were Meant 4 Me, My Love's On The Line, I Don't Care About Your Heart).

The pressing itself is also great, rich and clear sound without any pops or crackles, my copy is practically perfect. The printed inner sleeves are nicely made (they also include a lovely foreword), although a gatefold would've been a cherry on top.

The remixes are ok but they all sound very similar. This album is basically Unbreakable 2.0, you have to be in the mood to be able to listen to any of these songs. Dont pay the scalpers online, the content on the album is not worth it. Wait until everything calms down in a few months, you will be more likely to find a copy close to retail price. The sound quality is very good with only a slight warp on my copy but thats to be expected these days.

Wow!!! I am loving these mixes . Like being 14 and hearing them for the first time with the new energy they have. The sound quality on the vinyl is clear and crisp. I even love the work don for the later tracks like hit and run lover and loves on the line . Stand outs for me are definitely my heart goes bang and lover come back.
