Not sure why they missed an opportunity to do a 25th anniversary vinyl re-issue...hopefully 30th anniversary they will "master for vinyl" this amazing remix album.

Edited 4 years agoDefinitely one of my top 10 albums. The mix of Bell's voice, loud guitars, industrial sounds and huge beats is just incredible. There's not many releases that combines electronic music and industrial metal that good.
Just listen to the last 40 seconds of "Machines Of Hate", and you will understand what the word "eargasm" means. It sounds already awesome on the original "Self Bias Resistor", but this version is something else.
The original "Demanufacture" is one of my favorite industrial metal albums, but the idea of crossing it with electronic music has proven to be brilliant. Therefore, if you're a purist metalhead, this "Remanufacture" may not please you.
"Remanufacture", "National Beating", "Genetic Blueprint", "Cloning Technology"... every tune runs one after another without losing in quality despite the multiple genres covered.
For instance, I'm not a particular fan of gabber but "T-1000" sounds really fun and does not lose the original vibes too much in my opinion. You are also able to taste a little bit of ambient with "Bound For Forgiveness" and the raw sound of "Refinery".
Fun fact, "Refinery" is the only tune of this LP whose accredited producer is Fear Factory instead of Rhys Fulber or Junkie XL.
It would just have been even more perfect if they replaced the edited version of "Remanufacture" at the end by something else, for example by the "Refueled" remix from Junkie XL.
Rhys Fulber, Junkie XL, Kingsize, DJ Dano, and of course Fear Factory : thank you so much for making this gem happen. It's one of these albums that I come back to very regularly and that I fully play from beginning to end without interruption.
The icing on the cake : the cover looks also so cool with its purple pattern. It fits the music perfectly. -
When I bought this album used, I came across two copies of the sleeve. One was normal, but one of them has what seems to be an embossment of the fear factory logo with 'FEAR FACTORY DEMANUFACTURE FIRST DAY COVER 1997' surrounding it. Is this common with most realeases of this CD?

A techno-inductrial reworking of the thrash album 'Demanufacture' seems a strange idea. However, this album delivers a lot of good tunes with influences from genres as diverse as trance, ambient, breakbeat, Dutch hardcore (via Junkie XL) et al.
The influence of the producers (primarily Rhys Fulber from industrial act FLA) is fairly obvious. What is surprising is the general quality of the beats, particularly 'Burn', 'T-1000' and '21st Century Jesus'.
This album is ideal for those who want to take a peek at the current state of hard rock / thrash metal crossover acts using techno influences.
