Bob Dylan – Oh Mercy

Fantastic Soundstage and a nice pressing from Holland, of course a masterpiece from Daniel Lanois

My copy sounds fantastic. Clean, rich, detailed, and warm. Nicely recorded and mastered. Great songs, too - this is one of Dylan’s strongest late-period records.

Dylan might be my favorite artist of all time, so naturally picking favorite albums from him is tough. That said, even with his career now spanning 6 whole decades I find this to be comfortably in his top 5 greatest records he ever made. This original pressing does wonders for the sound of this album, it’s so dynamic, lush and full that I guarantee Oh Mercy will slide up a few places on your own list after hearing this press.

Looking for the best pressing of this album, is this the one?

I recently bought this version. It looked perfect but record 2 - side 3 & 4 - was really bad. Track 1 on both sides has lots of surface noise. This is not because of clicks and pops nor dirt, but due to a pressing fault. Its in the grooves. I had to return it to the shop. I wondered if anyone else would have the same issues. I am temped to buy a new copy but afraid it is a pressing fault.

sound quality is phenomenal. daniel lanois production combined with dylan’s best set of tunes in a long time makes this his best of the 80’s!

Holy shit, what a fantastic pressing and perfect EQ. This sounds beautiful and warm, lush and loud, with nice thick bass. Dylan’s voice is sand and glue. Get this.

After a few so so records, Bob returned to masterful form shocking a lot of folks in the process with the sheer quality of the observational material on this record. Bob didn't like the direction the world was heading in and hearing the great man back on politics and issues of social concern was a breath of fresh air. Many had wrote Bob off, incorrectly stating that his best work was behind him, but this strong set of songs proved otherwise.
Every song on this is powerful in some way. If you are just familiar with the great man's Sixties and Seventies records that are usually all over the music media, and lists of the best records of all time, then you are in for a treat as Bob Dylan excited the Eighties in very fine style as a man back at the top of his game.
