Just A/B'ed this with an original issue, and this record is mixed (or mastered) louder with bass and vocals to the front in an exciting but distracting way. The other instruments get buried a bit. Uninitiated bystander said "oh, this (the reissue) sounds better!" before coming around to the more integrated original, which is smooth and soulful, still plenty of bass presence without the in-your-face bottom.
All that said, I wouldn't dissuade someone from grabbing this (esp at 20-30% of the price) - not sure how it stacks with the recent reissues. -

Edited 24 days agoThanks to ?Love, I know about this album. Andy Bey is a unique singer. Guess what, another great William Fischer production at the intersection between electric jazz and soul. You like "Headless Heroes Of The Apocalypse" and William S Fischer's own solo album? This is for you, same vein, same feel, same 9th flat 5 chords played on a Rhodes piano.

Edited 24 days agoItem appeared to be far from flat unlike the sound: the reach vocal of Andy - gone, deep original bass - gone. Was very dissapointing as Real Gone Music have a good renome, and all the items I have from them sound pretty good. This time I didn't even listened to the second side, returned to the shop the very next day. Oh yeah - and that sea blue actualy looks like cheap blue.

Edited 24 days agoBeen looking for this album for a while so was pleased to see it received a reissue. Spinning now as I type...initial impressions are good, although it seems a bit quiet in the mix. I definitely had to turn it up more than I have other records.
Not a fan of all the colored vinyl presses these days. Seems a gimmick, but whatevs...I guess the sea blue is pretty.
Many might on this title due to its corny cover illustration, but this is a great soulful & cosmic 70s jazz LP! -
