Erasure – Chorus

Flat, poor sound, compression is audible. Lots of clicks and creaks. You can somehow listen to the edition only on an old cartridge with a spherical needle.

One of Erasure’s best albums start to finish. This pressing plays fantastic and sounds excellent, crisp, clean and has wonderful low-end bass, classic Erasure.

I believe I have this pressing. My matrix/runout is slightly different, but this entry matches the closest.

I don’t have earlier pressings to compare this to, but relative to the 200ish other LPs I own, this is a very good (but not exceptional) pressing and mastering. Pressing - flat and very quiet. Mastering - Clear and not overly compressed. Maybe a smidge missing on the lower mids, but that could just be the mix itself.

Exceptionally good pressing overall. Some tracks a little sparkier than others but overall this is very good release.

Early 90s vinyl when they still knew how to press records. Greats songs and sounds dope.

Still no release of the Tommy Musto Mix of Chorus on a reissue?

Despite their sizable and respectable long-lasting career, with a number of magnum opus albums under their belt, "Chorus" remains Erasure's outstanding, shiniest piece of work - now providing with a luxurious 3 disc fest, even though the amount of material from this era in their music career could have added a disc (or two) more to showcase the glory and the beauty of it. For once again, it's a rewarding listen that comes in a nicely assembled book-like folder, accompanied by excellent liner notes, all adding to the deliciously hard work put into its re-release.

Alongside the now-classic album, the second disc doesn't lack surprises - albeit minor (read: ungrateful) remark would address omission of some of the amazing b-sides ("Carry On Clangers", "Vitamin C" and "Snappy") while Robbie Rivera's "Juicy Mix" of "Love To Hate You" at the same time ruins the otherwise consistent run of solid 90s remixes selected along with rarities/demos and further excellent b-sides. Well, previously there were in-depth singles box-sets too, and these may still be available to collect absolutely all of them.

Also slightly it's a shame the live part given space on disc 3 isn't closer to a fuller set of their amazing "The Tank, the Swan and the Balloon" live show. Yes, there's the DVD on offer out there somewhere too, and on one plain CD there just wouldn't be enough space to squeeze that entire performance - and obviously, the "Chorus" tracks alone are chosen here for conceptual reasons so it doesn't hurt... still, experiencing the entire set all over in audio form (as many of their gems prior to "Chorus" were given a new live sound treatment here) would surely be a treat.

Anyhow, the boys are back in town, they never let us down.

Yet another loudness based remaster. Nothing is different at levelled volumes compared to original. Shame on the team who put out this.

I have just purchased from HMV store from Tunbridge Wells. Absolutely fabulous! Sounds impeccably perfect!
