I'm curious as to why this is listed as 1992 release... it doesn't say 1992 anywhere, just 1990... so... -
Edited 10 months agoSweden, 1990. The band "Carnage" with the album "Dark Recollections". Recorded in the studio under the direction of T. Skogsberg. A painting by D. Seagrave was used for the artwork. Absolutely everything is great in this short description.
The album is carved in granite, of course. The band played almost everything on this album that is still found at every turn in the world of Death Metal, not to mention the Swedish identity. Due to the split of the band, the release did not become as successful commercially in the year of release, but as in the case of Nihilist, Carnage has become something of an alma mater for people with a very serious musical career. But he is rightfully considered to be one of the earliest and most fundamental genre works, historically speaking. The work is interesting to listen to, in many tracks there is a fairly serious Thrash Metal base with a fiercely overloaded sound, which is simply blown off its feet by a shock wave like a ing train. The piercing melodic solos are especially sensitively emphasized by the blood-red stripe of the lines of the dark manifesto carved on this tombstone.
The next, this time a special Swedish edition in yellow, is no different from other presses from 2014 inclusive, moreover, a special Swedish limited edition of 200 copies was already in the mentioned year. But the world really needs limited Swedish editions in yellow every ten years, there's nothing you can do about it! =) No kidding, it's a good press, a smooth record, high-quality playback, all the same sound with FDR mastering (DR12). This time, the printing of the inner and outer sleeves is made in gloss, there is still no antistatic envelope for vinyl. In general, a normal edition with good sound is the most important thing. -
One of the fattest, heaviest, crushiest vinyls ever pressed. FDR series shines on this one especially.

Dark Recollections epitomizes Swedish Death Metal. This is one of the sub genres major starting points and foundations that all bands after would use the formula from and build upon. I think this album is pretty damn amazing, though I prefer Left Hand Path, Like an Everflowing Stream, and Into Eternity over it when it comes to this sound. However that does not detract from this album at all. I really do enjoy the entire experience of this album so much! It is completely and utterly essential as everyone reading this should know already. I may be a outsider, but the reason I really love this CD edition, is because of the INCREDIBLE bonus tracks. “The Day Man Lost…” & “Infestation of Evil” Demos are amazing! I honestly like these more than the album! Includes some cool rough mixes as well! I would pick up a copy asap!
Favorite Tracks from Dark Recollections: Dark Recollections, Torn Apart, Gentle Exhuming, Deranged from Blood
Favorite tracks from The Day Man Lost… demo bonus tracks: Crime Against Humanity, The Day Man Lost
Favorite rough mix track: Aftermath
Favorite Infestation of Evil bonus demo bonus track: Infestation of Evil -

One of the best death metal records of all time. Shredding, gut-ripping masterpiece all the way through. Grinding, choking and claustrophobic chords mixed with deeply shouted, half-comprehensible lyrics creates a very dark atmosphere.
Many of the breaks and pierces in the riffs are almost industrial, and the drumming on this one is breakneck. Very harsh, very noisy, really fantastic stuff. “Blasphemies of the Flesh” is especially groovy with many fantastic riffs, and the though the more obviously heavily affected vocals on “Infestation of Evil” can be occasionally abrasive, overall the screams and roars are very natural and in good harmony with the instrumentation.
Synthesizer is used sparingly for best effect, and the album is mostly focused on mid-tempo, not overly fast guitar parts. A much better harkening to a time where brutality and speed were not considered synonymous, as they should be today. Grinding, mid-tempo, deep death metal at its finest. Probably the best album in the Swedish DM scene. Later on these guys would be known for their work in the band Dismember, past 1991.
Favorite Track: Blasphemies of The Flesh

This release sounds great to me. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality pressing of this album, and of course this happens to be an essential for any Swedish death metal fans!
