Celebration is the third greatest hits album by Madonna. It includes three new songs: "Celebration", included on all versions, "Revolver", included on the two-disc editions, and "It's So Cool", included as a bonus track on deluxe digital editions.
The compilation was released on both audio and video format and features "digitally re-mastered from the original tapes" versions of the recordings / videos.
The video format contains 47 Madonna music videos on 2 DVD's, with 18 videos never before available on DVD. The CD editions are either single or double disc sets.
Release date: September 18, 2009.

A fourth song, Broken, was recorded for the project but not used. It was eventually given to Madonna's fanclub Icon's official as a free 12" vinyl in late 2012.

Where is the label code located on this release? I can't seem to find it on mine. -
Has anybody found a perfect outer sleeve for this box set? If so please post link. Thank you in advance. -
Edited 11 months agoRecord labels / artists / managers rarely get these types of comps right.
The bad:
a) Poor packaging - should have been a box set.
b) Erratic track listing - missing multiple key tracks.
c) Release should have collated tracks in chronological order.
The good:
a) Mastering is first rate, with a lot of earlier material benefiting from way better bottom-end; the exception being tracks from Like A Virgin, which suffer from razor-thin bass & drums.
b) Pressing is clean and flat - when Optimal get it right, it’s an absolute winner. -
Edited 11 months agoIt sounds really good. People talk about the meased up editing, but I dont hear anything off about any of these songs. Rich bass. Crisp vocals! Didn’t hear any pops or anything. Super happy with this!
I do wish it was a boxset though! The discs take a bit of work to fit in the jacket -
It’s made from the 2009 EU pressing plates, so it sounds exactly like the first edition. It has the same f*cked up version of ‘Music’, full of digital noise and pops. Overall, sounds great. If not the new Warner Records logo (which I hate btw) - this would be easy to mistake with the original EU pressing.

This reissue saves me from one of the worst record store decistions that I ever made. I was standing there holding a copy in my hands in 2009. I think it was 39.00 and I told myself that I have all the studio albums, I don't need this. I learned from that moment. Buyer's remorse is a lot easier to get over.

Outstanding pressing that sounds utterly fantastic. Packaging isn't wonderful, but if it helps to keep the cost lower then so be it - the wonderful mastering makes up for it anyway.
