Kind of disappointed. I am a big DM fan. Have heard all tracks I. So many different settings and medium. Found this pressing lacking in the meatiness. Not the punch I. The bass. I do have a very entry level system though. Wondering what others are listening it on and what your subwoofer is like.

incredibly clear vocals, drums and details
Cover is embossed with gatefold lyrics and a thick card stock inner sleeve carrying liner notes.

Ive been holding out waiting for an earlier pressing that is decently priced and condition,
Pulled the trigger and got this and have zero regrets buying new and fullprice

Spinning this Canadian original pressing right now and it’s fantastic. The bass is tight and full, the silent ages are dead quiet. Dave Gahan’s voice comes at you like he’s in the room. Playing on a Lenco L75 idler wheel with Dynavector cart, McIntosh Amp and B&W Speakers.

I can’t compare this to an original but this sounded incredible on my system. Full rich sound and separation and the electronic sounds really pop on vinyl. The cover is embossed and nice looking. 10/10 pressing and album!!

There is a near identical bootleg pressing with exact same runouts but with different cover layout (modeled after original 1987 German pressing) and no bass clef. The text on labels is blurry and the cover is laminated and not textured. Buyer beware!

I bought my copy in December 1987, and there is the DDD (not AAD) spars code on the CD. So this is not a proof for the 1989 Version of the CD only

The last real 1980s Depeche Mode album. No doubt some would argue with me, but for me, the last record of Depeche Mode as a cool "alternative" band. Violator is the album that takes them into the mainstream (along with many other indie bands at the time). So for me, this represents the last precious moment of Depeche Mode as an cutting edge avant-synth-pop phenomenon. It was an exciting time. But all things must . Sigh.

How weird. I got my copy of this version in exactly the same way ! I paid 99p....... It was some years ago though and I think charity shops are much more street wise which is probably fair enough. As I understand it, the bigger charities have a national network of advisors to draw on to "prevent" this type of thing happening so enjoy your good fortune when it happens....Regardless
