The M series records are extremely versatile DJ tools. Once I'm locked in the groove, Maurizio's M5 is my go-to third deck record. Its metronomic minimal dub techno is perfect for transitions. Deeper than the Sterac, Tresor, or Robert Hood cuts I usually start my sets with and it ads some much needed bass to the faster top-heavy metallic funk records of Steve Stoll and Planetary Assault Systems which dominate my peak-time sets.

For over a decade, my usual slot was after the international headliner DJ or closing the club until 6am. BPMs really dropped in club sets in the 00's after the minimal explosion so Maurizo records were well suited alongside Kompakt, Kill The DJ and B-Pitch records or in my 'big room' outdoor summer festival sets. I also dropped M5 to give the dance floor a breather during my harsher industrial techno sets for Fondation Sonore in Brussels, Belgium. Or at sweat soaked summer warehouse parties in Perth, Western Australia. My favourite set time 6 to 8am; sunlight beaming through the shutters, sweat dripping from the roof, heads fully rattled.

If anyone asks me examples of good minimalism in techno Maurizio would be one of my obvious choices. Two minimalistic dubby house tracks with a moody vibe. Long tracks perfect for blending slowly in a dj set with a musical chilled out vibe.

this beauty truly deserves a good preamp and headphones so that you were able to locate and enjoy all the subtleties of the mix, especially the 33 rpm side has some phenomenal sonics that I ve been able to notice...

almost 30 years after I had bought the record ;)
a true gem and a very playable one so chances are one copy might not be enough.

(my wild guess is the 45 rpm mix is much earlier, and the 33 rpm is the final "polished" / master mix)

there are no A/B sides on the M records - you get the MO5 and MØ5 instead.

Classic indeed and also as a Dj tool and helper to mix everything what you want to mix togehter in your mix or because if a record is hard to mix. It works always. Try it.
              Unique Maurizio sound signature.
              M5, you need it.

Legend - One of the Top5 DubTechno icons, maybe THE No.1. Timeless consequent straight stripped to the bone baseline driven rhythm.
