Dream Theater – When Dream And Day Unite

Has anyone encountered the same issue with the song "Status Seeker," where the volume briefly drops for a few seconds and then goes back up again? Is there a mastering error? I have the version with the MASTERDISK in the Runout.

So, seriously now: apart from the complaints about the sound of this godsend, which is certainly in need of improvement, every rating with less than five stars should be appropriately punished, for example by tying the unworthy delinquent with barbed wire to a sharp square timber with a pyramid cross-section directly under his bare bottom, with really bad headphones attached to his ears with superglue and the entire works of Modern Talking or the Amigos as a programme. For the rest of his unworthy life. That's it.

Does anyone here know if this is its own remaster or if its the same as the 2002 or 2013 ones?

No, there's nothing to do with this record anymore. It needs to be re-recorded in the studio. But with other engineers. And take away the fee from those for a poorly done job.
However, this issue sounds a little better than the CDs of those years.

Dream theater debut is kinda strange album.
It's not bad at all but has it flaws.
Production is definitely big part of problem, it's muddy and you can't hear the album like you should.
These guys really know how to play their instruments, but some songs are below their playing abilities.
For example,Status seeker is the lowest point of the album and sounds like some sleazy 80's pop,The ones who help set the sun has 2,5 minutes intro that is very annoying and The killing hand is slightly boring.
On the other hand there are some great songs on here,A fortune in lies is very good opener,The Ytse jam is best song on album in my opinion and fabulous instrumental, Afterlife is also really good and the last song Only matter of time (exactly last three minutes of that song) finished the album in classy style.
This album is definitely not for everyone and needs more disc spinning,but I find it worth my time.

This is a solid first effort, though it's pretty clear that they were listening to a whole lot of Rush around this time. They certainly haven't found their own sound yet, though we're about to get quite a lot of that on the next album.

I agree with Masquerade below. It is superior to the MOV. Nothing with with the MOV. It’s not as powerful to this one.

I look up in the DR within this pressing the min is 13.72 and max is at 16.58 .In short, its god tier quality and you can crank it to beyond what your sound speakers can do.

Well this album has always sounded muffled and this release is no different. Can’t blame the press as it is 10/10 so I can only assume that this is how the master sounds. Glad to have a physical copy of a band I adore. But until their (hopeful) reacquisition of the masters, this is what we’re stuck with.

My copy 1079 does not have any pops, clicks or skips. It is completely quiet between tracks and sounds great from start to finish.
