I just got my copies of all four in this series. Of all of these reissues, I am the most excited about this Image Album for Kiki. It is the first of these releases that has never been available on vinyl (CD and Cassette previously). This is just as essential as the soundtrack. If you are not familiar with Image Albums the concept is pretty simple: Miyazaki gives Hisaishi an image and concept (‘’somewhere in Europe, around the Mediterranean…’’) and Hisaishi creates music. The animators and Miyazaki listen to the image album as they work on the film.
After cleaning this one and giving a spin, I have to say it is very well done. Vinyl is flat and dead quiet. The packaging is quite nice and made of sturdy stuff.
