I was super excited about finding this release. Came in the mail today and.. i must say I was a little disappointment in its sound. The artwork, the vinyl, all stunning. But maybe it was just my vinyl, i dont know, but it sounded so compressed. No punch, no life. I also got the GH so I was able to compare Remedy and Truth, and my god, on the GH the dynamics are so much better, the stage was HUGE. Its got bass (not too much), long story short and to cut all the bs it HAS LIFE! But sadly THIS vinyl sounds like a cd rip. I hope they do another pressing because this is my favorite album of theirs. It deserves better.
Edit: Sadly I am returning it. To me the sound was that bad. Note I did buy this in 2023, so maybe the older batch was better. -

Sounds great. Better then I expected. Anticipated a standard digital CD on vinyl sound, what I got was more then that. No complaints here. -

This is probably one of a few albums I can recite from front to back (with the others belonging to Pantera, Metallica, and Down). I could go the rest of my life never hearing "The Gift" again and be completely contempt (I heard that song so many times on the radio I started to hate it) but damn would I be devastated if I could never hear the rest of this masterpiece. As pretentious as that may sound, it should say something about the quality of the album. Even after hating a song for hearing it over and over, this album is still in my top five. Shaun's pain while singing is so present. The guitars sound perfect in the mix. The drums do just enough to play to the mood of the songs. Are they virtuosos? No. Is Shaun a "god-tier" singer? No. But, much a la Steve Ray Vaughan, there is something to say about feel and emotion to singing over sounding "perfect." There's not much else I can say, pick up the album and enjoy it.
