I love Cosmic Cars, and have done for years. I've always believed it to be somewhat inspired by Driving in my Car by Madness. I believe that was also released in 1982, though I'm not sure which was released first -

I've been jamming to The Line all week. Pure freshness, still. -

Juan Atkins, for Electronic Standards: “Cosmic Cars was meant to be a Space vechicle. I used the Korg to produce them; took an audio engenieering course, read books, that’s the way I learn to make the optimum sounds.” -

This is most certainly not a cover of Numan, but most likely inspired by it. Nothing wrong withat. My Cosmic Car! -

Cosmic Cars could be played in an Industrial DJ set next to KMFDM, Tackhead, Mark Stewart, or Fats Comet. Love this track. -

NO, Chris 416... sorry. Influenced, maybe, but that's about about it.
This masterpiece was a blueprint for Detroit techno and took Juan Atkins out of the whole electro dead end and brouhaha about did Bambaata or Kraftwerk or Juan Atkins invent electro. It's disco, it's electro, it's proto-techno.
Still rocks the floors and is unbelievably fresh almost THIRTY-FIVE years later. -
