The Knack (3) – Get The Knack

Great sounding record. very good mastering.
Bought another NM record for a back up.

It was this album and this pressing that got me back into vinyl after years of buying and listening to CDs and cassettes. It was part of a crate of records I bought at a flea market in the ‘90’s (Paid $90 cash for the crate of around 50 records of 80’s and ‘70’s rock albums!)
Funny thing was, I had my turntable packed away at the time. And it wasn’t until several years later that I decided to take it out and set it up. This album was the first one from that crate that I put on. The vinyl itself was like new and was quiet. I was really impressed with how natural it sounded!

The Knack's debut album is mostly ed for the smash-hit single 'My Sharona.' The last song on Side One, 'Good Girls Don't,' also charted as high as #15. So while The Knack mostly disappeared after their debut they are not in fact a one-hit wonder. Both songs are fun and tight, and it's a shame that they are pretty much the only Knack songs that have entered the public's consciousness because the rest of the album is equally catchy. 'Your Number or Your Name,' possibly the best song on the album, is all about unrequited ion and the fantasies that can follow from a missed connection. It's just one song that falls neatly into the overall romantic theme of the album, which is imagining The Knack as lovesick losers. Too often the 'victim of love' attitude veers right into straight-up misogyny which is unfortunate, because this is one of the better power pop albums ever made.

This pressing is very good, no complaints.

Easy to overlook album. But don`t. Front to back a really good album.

Just got a new Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo and this VG+ copy and this album sounds fantastic.

I have the Club Pitman pressing with JAY, not JAM in the matrices. Is this Jay Maynard?

Awesome album. Worth it to have My Sharona alone. This pressing is so clear it beats a digital version any day.

A now highly overlooked new wave album. Remains a classic to this day.
If The Knack weren't so overhyped as the "next Beatles" and their second album wasn't such a critically divisive album, I think this album would be ed better.
At least people "My Sharona". That song has held up well musically.

Great pressing; you can't really go wrong with this release!
