Paramore – Riot!

this album is perfect, and i mean PERRECT. paramore was one of, if not the first band i truly found on my own (i’d never heard of them online/had friends that knew them) and as someone who was raised on the beatles, led zeppelin, 80s hair metal and grunge, they’re one of my favorite bands of all time. i first heard this in june 2021, and this album just blew me away. i realized that i needed to listen to it all, and i’ve never looked back. although brand new eyes and this is why are my favorites, this one is the most important one to me. there are few albums that i have every single note, every riff/solo and every little vocal inflection burned into my brain (the lyrics to pessimist are etched onto my skull). this album is an absolute masterpiece, musically and art-wise. and cool pts for being recorded in my home state.

edit: wanna know just how much i listened to this? a while ago, i’d had this really shoddy cd walkman, and i listened to this and the first 5 records INCESSANTLY. the discs got so scratched up and workln that some of them don’t track correctly anymore. luckily i found an original sealed on eBay. score!!!!

I was worried after the split reviews, but this record doesn’t sound all that bad! The only real surface noise I heard was in the inner dead wax, and the record itself’s mix was decent. For $20 and overnight shipping, I couldn’t ask for more.

By far the noisiest pressing I own, even after a deep clean. The music sounds fine but is always accompanied by a very noticeable crackle. If you are looking for a copy of this album, avoid this one.

PSA: Your record is not dirty. I sat here looking at this release AND "All We Know is Falling" which are on these unique silver colors... that's part of the design. Don't be like me and sit there cleaning a new record over and over and over and over and over lol.

anyone get one with a “limited edition color vinyl” sticker? mine was a sealed black copy :((

I had to crank up the volume, bass and treble a bit and there was some crackling throughout For A Pessimist, but after that and turning it up it was a great listen! Wish it was some other color besides silver though. It was also super staticky even after a brush for some reason..

Flat and boring pressing. Avoid this and save your money.

This 24-bit reissue (Qobuz) sounds great. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. There's no ear daggers or boomy bass to contend with. Fortunately Hayley's lovely vocals are placed forward in the mix. The long list of credits shows that this album was quite an undertaking, and there's never a dull moment. Excellent!

I seem to have a "4A" and "4B" variant of this, but same EU printing language and orange hype sticker.
