A pretty good album of rarities, though it would more accurately be titled "Roots of Funk." This collection reveals a few origins and interpretations as funk began to influence soul and reggae, but it ain't quite funk. Many instrumentals including the opening Shaft cover. A decently average pressing, fresh copies will likely need a deep clean to bring down surface noise. -
This cassette sounds pretty good! I've been pleasantly surprised for a newly produced tape. Probably 10 plays in the past couple of weeks. Low end comes through well like I'd hope for reggae. Rest of mix is clear. Not too much air or hiss. I didn't have this comp in any format, so truly enjoying the tunes more than anything.
