A beautiful-looking (and sounding) version of this album, honestly. If there wasn’t such a solid online consensus of it being unofficial, I could have been convinced otherwise. Curious to know whether this variant was around back in 2007, or whether it’s much more recent…

Nice flat purple vinyl. A LOT of surface noise exists after I pre cleaned the vinyl. Decent soundstage but the crackling is a distraction. I even transferred the Lp to a MoFi sleeve after cleaning. Oh well -

Great Prince album. Vinyl sounds superb. And the lenticular album cover is beyond 🙌🏽💜 -

2nd Album Revolution # 3:
2 successful albums in a row!!! At this stage of "Prince's" career, that didn't seem possible...Well, what about about 3?
"Planet Earth" may not have been as successful as "Musicology" and "3121", but it was still a success...
It starts off with the moody but powerful "Title Track"...When "Prince" did a message song, you felt it, and the title track was no different...
"Guitar" (Crown Jewel) really displayed his never ending love for a true "Guitar" track...
"Somewhere Here On Earth" is a dreamy song, which goes into so many directions...
"The One U Wanna C" was done before (even though I don't when), but right here, it sounds like a ROCKIN" good time...
My Wife can't stand "Future Baby Mama"....Not the song itself, just the concept, or what it means (I dig it though)....
"Mr. Goodnight" is that come on record, with "All The Midnights In The World" following it respectfully.....
The 2nd Crown Jewel of the album is "Chelsea Rodgers" (with "Marva King") ....It is a story a Super Model that has it going on (not just in Body, but also in the Mind)...
I will it that the last 2 songs "Lion Of Judah" and "Resolution" are kind of sleepers, even though they have good content....
By this time with "Prince", he had a very, very big system, with the "NPG" ("C.C. Dunham", "Greg Boyer", "Joshua", "Lee Hogan", "Maceo Parker", "Mike Phillips", "Morris Hayes", "Renato Neto", "Shelby J." & "The Twinz"), and a host of his true friends, "Wendy & Lisa", 'Michael B.", "Sonny T.", "Sheila E.", "Christian Scott", and new protégée, "Bria Valente"......
Believe it or not the 2nd Album Revolution is not over....In some respects, it only just begun...... -

There's some strong material on Planet Earth, but it wasn't as cohesive or fully-realized as its immediate predecessors, 3121 and Musicology. Given the obscured 3121 nod in the album's artwork, it felt like a patchwork of outtakes that were intended for that album. Scattershot and calculated, it featured mostly second-tier songs that either tried to recapture past glories or measure to the high standards of Prince's pop-rock forte. I enjoyed it for the most part, though. The spiritual power rock-laden, "Lion of Judah" is my personal favorite on here, which isn't surprising, as it has a strong hint of Wendy & Lisa's influence. Speaking of Wendy & Lisa, it's apt to note that this album marked Prince reuniting with Wendy & Lisa for the first time in over a decade, as they made an unmemorable collaboration on "The One U Wanna C." -
This one, IMO did not warrant a vinyl release. Really only one good track on here. (do I even have to name it?)
Not one of Prince's stronger releases overall. Stick with 1980-1990 for the good stuff. -

One track album....Chelsea Rodgers is the standout track...the rest could have been recorded by anyone and to say they are unmemorable would be overselling it. -
Artwork looks great, sound is ok, please stop asking for 180 gram nonsense, sure it will sound better on 2 vinyls, but it is just 45 minutes, so maybe next time with some extra songs like F.U.N.K.
no sound issues on my copy -
Anyone complaining about this album sounding crap could be forgiven for assuming the pressing is to blame... but this album has always been crap! ;p
Although it's proof of just how talented Prince was that even his weakest album still has a few highlights worth seeking out (Guitar, The One U Wanna C & Chelsea Rodgers, if anyone's interested). The rest was just filler to flog with concert tickets - there's a reason the CDs were free, after all. These reissues are just airs and graces while we wait for the real out-of-print gems.
