Glam Slam, Minneapolis

Profile:

The Glam Slam, unofficially known as "Glam Slam North," was the downtown Minneapolis nightclub established by Glam Slam single, the venue had a capacity of 1,250 visitors. Glam Slam soon expanded to a chain, with locations in Yokohama (December 1991 — December 93), Los Angeles (January 93 — August 95), and Miami (June 94 — May 96).

Prince wanted to run a nightclub for many years, against the management's advice — ever since his Paisley Park Studios complex, Bossardt Christenson Corp. According to most sources, the project was primarily financed by Paisley Park Enterprises, where Davison recently became the President; the estimated budget of $500,000 reached almost $2 million. However, Prince "had no financial interest" in the club, as reported by the local press.

On 20 October 1990, Glam Slam had a grand opening headlined by My Name Is Prince
, shot in September 1992 at the back alley.

In 1993, Ruth Bowe sold her 10% stake in Heaven & Earth, Inc., as she planned to open a restaurant in Wayzata, Minnesota; Gilbert Davison became the sole owner of the Minneapolis venue and "Glam Slam" trademark. In October 1994, shortly after Prince filmed the Get Wild promo video at the club (from The Quest. The new establishment burned down in 2006; Heaven & Earth, Inc. dissolved in January 2008. After the renovation, The Quest reopened as an "Epic" nightclub (2006–2013). Currently, there are several businesses at this location, including Rumble Studios and the "Cowboy Jack's" bar.
