New Southern Records Sdn Bhd

Profile:

南方唱片機構有限公司
Established in 1974, New Southern Records is a Malaysian record company that releases Malay and Chinese music, as well as non-music (such as movies and dramas) and English music releases. It was only in the mid-1980s that New Southern Records began to release Malay-language music, that later would be expanded through acquisitions of several local record companies.

Until 1991, the NSR logo also includes a gramophone.

The album code differs: in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was NSR XXX (NSR CD XXX for compact discs), but as of 1993/1994, this was changed to four digits, with the number "8" being the first number of four digits. The CD releases had the code NSR XXXX-2, example: NSR 8093-2. Its releases are identified by the barcode 9 557204 XXXXXX.
