Mega (2)

Profile:

U.S. record label active from 1970 to 1976.

Mega Records was founded in 1970 by M. David Bell taking over management.

The distribution network set up by Mega was continued for a short time, but soon a new deal was struck with Pickwick, through Pickwick International, Inc.," of Woodbury, NY. A new series was started (the MLPS-600 Series) for this purpose. Albums that were still showing some sales action were reissued on the new series.

In early 1976, Mega ran out of cash and the Mega imprint was discontinued, and Bell shifted many artists over to Zodiac (21).

Bell briefly reactivated the imprint in the mid-1980s.

For company roles, please see Mega Records & Tapes, Inc., when used that way on releases.
