Sigma Sound Studios

Recording studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania founded by recording engineer Joe Tarsia in 1968.
It was one of the first studios in the United States to offer 24-track recording capacity and the first anywhere to successfully employ console automation.
In 2003 the location has been sold to Mario Santoro, but kept the name of Sigma Sound Studios.
Ca. 7,000 tapes of the studio's tape library were donated to the Drexel University Audio Archive.
The studios had closed for business in 2014.
In 2015. the Sigma building was officially dedicated as a historic site by the City of Philadelphia and, in 2020, it has been listed on the Philadelphia of Historic Places, protecting it from demolition.
