Beer On the Rug laid the groundwork for how current online experimental labels can blend aesthetics, innovative sounds, and attention to detail with tape releases. Even the lesser known releases from the first 5 years or so feel like worthy physical representations of the art/music on each tape. Many, if not all cassettes they put out for a while were on some sort of type II tape formula, a touch that really let’s you know they wanted to make the most out of their format of choice.

Such a great web of internet music stemming from all different sorts of communities, shame they faded away like they did… though at the same time maybe BOTR would’ve overstayed its welcome if they had somehow persisted into this decade. This side of vaporwave is dead and many other web labels are buried in memoriam alongside BOTR.

Any chance another label could get the rights (is that such a thing with vaporwave!?) to be able to press some of the releases on vinyl? In particular, I would love to see a release of Napolian / Computer Dreams. I'm sure this is wishful thinking, but a lot of classic vaporwave albums have recently seen record releases so there's always a chance I suppose!

i cant believe i kind of kept up with this label when it began (2011-2012) and now look at the giant explosion of vaporwave it birthed. like nobody could imagine at the time some weird lookin cassette with a roman bust and japanese text on the front would have this much impact.

Label seems to have disappeared (all sites, social media s, etc.) sometime in the past few days. Anyone know what's up?
