Rich-R-Tone

Profile:

US-american bluegrass label, founded by Jim Stanton in 1946 in Johnson City, Tennessee. In late 1951, Stanton moved the label to Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Later the label moved to Nashville, Tennessee, then back to Johnson City, and then again back to Nashville.

The Rich-R-Tone label is best-known for recording the emerging bluegrass sound of the decade after World War II. They were the first label that recorded The Stanley Brothers, who went on to record seven 78s with them between 1947 and 1952. Apart from that, however, the label also released artists from a variety of other genres, including honky-tonk country, gospel, piano boogies, early rockabilly, and even some rhythm and blues.
