30 September 1983: Virgin Records NZ Ltd. is incorporated. Initially Virgin Records Ltd. owns 750 shares and RTC NZ Ltd. owns 250. In 1989 Pitts was bought out by Virgin.
1 June 1992: Virgin globally was sold to EMI and the shareholding in NZ was: majority shareholder Virgin Records Ltd. (999 shares), EMI (NZ) Ltd. holds 1 share.
Brian Pitts was made redundant shortly thereafter.
27 June 1997: Company deed due to change of ownership.
30 June 1997: Re-ed as Virgin Group New Zealand Ltd., now fully owned by EMI (NZ) Ltd.
25 July 1997: Name change back to Virgin Records New Zealand Ltd.
October 2002: Formal close of business whilst operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of EMI Music New Zealand Ltd. (dissolved and removed from on 25 November 2002).
