The Singapore Phonogram Videogram Association (SPVA) was formed in 1976 with 8 record companies to develop the industry in Singapore.
Renamed RIAS in 2001, the association comprises 25 leading major and independent record companies in Singapore. It also works with copyright regulators and serves the business community and the general public, with the aim to develop a vibrant music ecosystem in Singapore where performing artistes can practise their profession as a career.
To achieve this end, RIAS adopts a two-prong strategies, to promote recorded music and expand its market utilisation, and to safeguard the rights of record producers and their artistes.
As a national representative of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), RIAS aims to foster and maintain trade ethics and fair business practices within of the industry and to serve as the industry’s voice both locally and internationally. It is recognised by the regulators in Singapore as a key player in content protection in the music industry.
