May 1973 the company began using price codes on the spines of LPs and at the end of the graphic on cassette releases. The price code was a four-digit string indicating retail price (e.g., $7.98 retail price = 0798 price code).

WEA Canada introduced the Super C Cassette format in mid-1983. These used digital sub-masters, improved high-grade tape, included test tones, and were recorded using Dolby HX Pro and B Noise Reduction.
