From what I've been seeing Doxy has been taking titles that are now free from European copyright and pressing vinyl from digital source material. Ever notice that all these titles are over 50 years old? These are not re-mastered from original tapes. You might as well just buy the CDs (which is probably what they're making the plates from). I would avoid them....

I have "Nina Simone sings Ellington!" DOK216, and the record quality is above average. Heavy 180 gram disc, flat as a board, label set dead center, perfectly cut center hole, and the pressing is also dead center (no lateral 'float' on the needle when playing). The mastering is loud but crisp with dynamic range. The vinyl is clean and plays without much background noise, though some light noise can be heard in the recording itself. I guess experiences vary, but given the negative remarks wanted to add my own experience.

Dear!
If your hands are hit low-quality vinyl, then do not reject the entire label. This is not right! We are releasing it at the factory in the Czech Republic, where available, many European labels. In addition, our Life LILITH Records released in the same factory. And claims of quality was not there. Claims must show the seller that sold you a defective vinyl. -
Edited 14 years agoI have heard these are poorly mastered represses (on this label, not on any specific releases), but the two that I have aren't bad.
