PMI

Profile:

PMI (Pacific Mirror Image) was an Australian video cassette and optical disc manufacturer active from November 1995 to August 2000.
Not to be confused with Picture Music International, which is also abbreviated "PMI" on some releases.

PMI came into existence when Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch's PMP Communications Ltd acquired the Technicolor, Australia.

Matrix pattern:
From November 1995 CDs from PMI included the following matrix info (notable are the six-pointed stars ✱):
IFPI L28# – MADE BY PMI ✱ [release catalogue number] ✱ #[pressing number]
(e.g. 'The Clouds - Van') — the original PMI matrix style included either the mastering SID code IFPI L281 or IFPI L282.

From approximately October 1997 CD and DVD matrices from PMI included a different font and character sequence (notable are the eight-pointed stars ✳):
IFPI L283 ✳ [release catalogue number] ✳ #[pressing number] MADE BY PMI.
(e.g. 'A Band Called Horse! - The Shame Of Arizona' — with the mastering SID code IFPI L283 in a smaller font beneath the first eight-pointed star ✳).

Mastering SID Codes:
• IFPI L281 / IFPI L282 / IFPI L283

Mould SID Codes:
• IFPI 46##

Some Lithuanian labels would outsource the pressing of CDs to PMI in the 1990s.
