TELDEC Schallplatten GmbH

German record company formed in March 1983 when owners Telefunken AG and Decca Record Co. Ltd sold their stake in TELDEC »Telefunken-Decca« Schallplatten GmbH.

Apart from releasing records on its own Teldec-Press GmbH in Nortorf, near Kiel.

TELDEC Schallplatten GmbH existed as an independent company until it was bought by WEA (effective January 1, 1988). The manufacturing activities were then merged with TELDEC Record Service GmbH (effective May 1988).

In 1989 parts of the company were split up and became EastWest Records GmbH (July 1990).

All the credits prior to 1983 are usually abbreviations and means the TELDEC »Telefunken-Decca« Schallplatten GmbH, but more likely that your release is a reissue from the period 1983 and later. If in doubt, please ask at the forum.
