Not what it once was, but worth a check. Enough second hand vinyl to keep you amused for a few hours. Jazz, Rock and Classical are a plenty. Not well sorted, so expect to be flipping through a fair bit. Prices used to be dirt cheap, but still fair at $4-$8 for most 12"s.
Date of last Visit: Jan 2006

Egg Records - No Website - MAP
7 Wilson Street between King Street and Erskinville Road, Newtown NSW. Phone - (02) 9550 6056
Near Newtown Station: A modest selection of used Vinyl and CDs from all genres. Dance and Hip-hop are lumped together and prices are not cheap - generally starting at $10 per 12", with many up to $40.00. That said, the condition of the vinyl is superb and there are many sale items. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
Date of last visit: March 2006

Goulds - Located at the top of King Street (no. 32) Newtown. Principally a bookstore, with over 1 million books. However they have many thousands of pieces of vinyl (40,000), second hand. Not very well organised, so expect to spent some time there. Every excursion has yielded me a few choice pics. Mostly Rock, classical and jazz, but a fair selection of electronic pop and dance. Prices are reasonable but not super cheap.
Date of last visit: March 2006

UnSound - Website - Map
Shop H10 Hunter Arcade, 301 George Street, Sydney.

A good selction of used vinyl and cds. Hip hop to house, dance and in between. Prices are frankly too high - $10 and above for vinyl, with most $15 and many at $25 plus. Last visit I found a good selection of used vinyl, but prices were prohibitive. There was several $1 bins in which I picked 46 good pieces. Worth a visit.

Here's a map of several of the record stores mentioned above. A couple of them may not be there anymore, but it's useful nonetheless.
*sorry about the shitty quality, I just took a photo of that bit of paper that I take with me to sydney each year :) -

all second hand shops in Sydney suck except for GOOD GROOVE (unfortunately closing temporarily i think while they get their stuff all sorted online) and REVOLVE.........
GOOD GROOVE and REVOLVE are where its at ;)
the others very rarely yield anything that would make your heart race ;( -

Acetate has closed and Reefer has moved to Canberra haven't they? -

Yes. Acetate closed and Reefer has moved.
I was at Revolve about a week ago, and whilst the selection is good, prices are at times a little optimistic. Not so much of a bargain hunters paradise, but for range, good.
And I was at ten Seconds Down a few days ago, and as usual came away with some astonishingly good records at awesome prices. -

yeah, revolve has climbed in the price stakes......got a really nice record in ten seconds down ,too just days ago ;)
but not much else to speak of......... lost - the gonzo - mint copy for 4 bucks aint bad, i guess
