37 owner? I cant believe that. TP pressed 10 or max. 20 pieces?! -
This is just a great album, one of their best indeed, the youthful innocense before they got destroyd? (more or less by fame and introduction of guitars and black clothes).I don’t know why many fantastic pop bands have gone down the same path of sort of self destruction(drugs etc.).The early eighties was a wonderful time, new wave synth bands to come forward and change the music scene with new ideas and so on!.A broken frame with it’s fantastic cover is a good album as well for all synth pop fans with great songs from Martin Gore.

How are you supposed to distinguish between the three LP UK STUMM 5 issues? They all seems to have "* STUMM-5·B-1 * MT. DB TAPE One" on the runout.

I have this exact variant of this cassette and during Just Can't Get Enough the track fades out completely at the start of the second verse. Do any other owners of this version have this issue with their copy? -

One of the rarest german testpressings!!!
Some were send with 3-sided sheet and/ or Mute postcard. -
best Depeche Mode record ever, and a fantastic pressing. ive had early German and US pressings in the past, and this sounds much more open and 'natural' sounding than the US pressing i had. the German pressing was cut a bit louder, but thats not an issue in comparison with this Swedish pressing. this cut has very clear and delicate highs and good punchy mids and lows without being overwhelming. crank it up and enjoy!!! it sounds great!!

never had and heard this on vinyl before but i definitely can recommend this reissue. only thing missing is an antistatic inner liner but overall it's a fantastic reproduction. the gatefold cover, the artwork, pressing, production - really, really good! i wish other manufacturers would take this as an example for the prices they call sometimes....
did i mention that it sounds fantastic? :-))

Edited one year agoA good reissue of this classic Depeche album from '81, when Vince was in the band. Overall much more happy sounding, complete with major 3rd vocal harmonies and less sophisticated synth patches. There's even a Beach Boys-esque track on here ("What's Your Name"). Subsequent albums very quickly morph into a new, darker sound which will cement the band's vibe, but this early record has a nostalgic feel hearkening a simpler time.
Highlights are "Photographic", "Just Can't Get Enough", "Nodisco", "Big Muff".
Audio is full with gigantic bass. Cut hot. 180g clean looking vinyl, I found a skip near the end of Puppets which seems to be baked into the pressing, if that's possible. The glossy rigid gatefold jacket is impressive, as good as it gets. Presentation is superb here. A winner for $28 US.
