Bob Dylan – Street-Legal

I'm not a big fan of modern remixes, but this CD from 1999 sounds really good. Having said that, nothing replaces the original mix (IMHO), wich can be found in the "Complete Album Collection Vol. 1" box set. It's a shame that if one wants to buy the CD with the original remastered mix, it's not availabe as a standalone CD

One of my fav albums. One of the great albums. Epic opening track. The rest of the tracks are just inspired, brilliant behemoths. Great cover. Flies under the radar somewhat. But it shouldn't. You should buy it now. Or do what Bob used to do...thieve it.

Some skips on my A side but sounds great in general!

A damn fine hot funky slightly fevered big production soulful LP with hard bluesy sound with Sir Bob singing with purpose & conviction doing his mysterious gypsy thang backed by a female gospely chorus, gritty guitars, saxophones & swelling organ.
An overlooked aural pleasure.

I'm not sure why people hate this album so much. "Is Your Love in Vain?" and "Stop Crying Baby" are quintessential Dylan. Placing it in its appropriate period, the album is even more remarkable.

STREET LEGAL doesn't really sound like any other Dylan album, with a relatively slick production, horns, and a group of female background singers. Highlights include "Changing Of The Guard", "Baby Stop Crying" (wherein Dylan channels Otis Redding), "Señor (Tales of Yankee Power)" and "We Better Talk This Over". This 1978 pressing is kinda meh, I don't know if it's the mix or the mastering, but the overall sound is somewhat flat and muffled. My copy plays nice and clean with occasional faint surface noise.

I like this album. It has some great tunes on it. My barber who is a CD collector also likes it.

Sound quality isnt good. Noisy, compressed and flat. This version isnt worth buying

This is a nice pressing of an underappreciated Dylan album. Had a different pressing that was trash, but this one sounds quite good to me, considering the original recording wasn't super high fidelity. Love the vibe throughout this record, one song as good as the next, with a consistent feel throughout. If you find this at a good price, get it.

My side A is great, side B a little noisy and sadly slightly off-center. Master is excellent!
