have been listening to this since high school - cd, deluxe cd, VMP vinyl 2016 and now have sprung for this - this sounds the best by far of any of the versions / pressings i have heard

I love having this (my little brother bought it for me when it came out) and yet,why was there no inclusion of Diskobox? Anyone else bothered by that? I have a Euro CD copy with it on there, but why not in this wonderful collection? Seems like an oversight, but is there a proper explanation?

Strange request, in search of disc 4 only, purchased a copy here that had duplicates of disc 3, happy to do a switcharoo if my twin is out there, or purchase separately. Cheers!

Edited 4 years agoThis is really a beautiful deluxe reissue. The quad gatefold is high quality, durably made and opens up and turns pages like a book with each record housed in a polylined sleeve inside its own slot. The cover is also embossed in places and the artwork is excellent. it just seems like a really well put together package. The records have exceptional clarity and detail so you can hear all the instruments, samples and weird sounds perfectly. The depth and richness of these tracks on this reissue really transform this into an entirely different listening experience than what I’m used to, almost like it’s revealing a whole new album inside. The intricacies in the recordings really come alive. The soundstage is huge. The BG reissue that I have can’t even come close to what’s done on this ORG release. The bass is a beast on this thing, speaker shaking madness. The songs sound so open and expansive, I’m really hearing things I haven’t heard before. The music let’s you crawl inside and explore all the little sonic delights these tracks have to offer. I haven’t heard the original but I feel like any other issue of this album is going to sound compressed and limited after hearing this edition. This thing just oozes into infinity. Smooth, warm, tribal, unrelenting. No pressing issues.

I have compared this pressing to an original, a bong load colored anniversary copy, and a BG reissue cut. There is no contest. This 4LP edition is definitive with a huge soundstage, liquid bass, and makes for a highly engaging listen. Spreading out the album over 4 vinyl sides is a must.

I picked up this monster (physically it is quite large and heavy) on a holiday sale. The packaging quality and press quality are both excellent. A proper treatment of a classic Beck album.

A nice idea - collect together all the various tracks from Odelay and its singles plus some bonus unreleased cuts and release it on a nice deluxe edition on 180g wax. A not so nice idea, put a $90 price tag on it (+$35 to have it shipped to the UK) and you are talking about a release that costs 4-5 times what a regular 4xLP would cost - talk about taking the piss!? Also it seems they have missed quite a few tracks from the various releases so its not the ultimate Odelay - I couldn't find one 12" where all tracks are included here! The packaging is nice but not $50 extra nice - the Simply Vinyl reissue came in a much better quality plastic sleeve and the build quality should be a lot better for the price.
It would be nice to see the same for Mellow Gold and Mutations but this time with a more sensible price tag.
Still, they have confidence they can shift three thousand of them at this price so good luck to them, and the music here is priceless!
